nAlertMe - Alarm for your mobile phone

Hello.
I found this post in my bulgarian blog and just want to share it with you. This is an alarm that uses the accelerometer of the device. You activate the alarm when U want. You can set the deactivation movement code. Here's a video that will demonstrate exactly how the application works:

And because the program will come to you unsigned, you have to sign it. And here's what I did to makes it work properly:

1. I downloaded the app from here: LINK
2. I visited the site Open Signed Online.
3. Typed my IMEI number, which I saw by entering *#06# on my phone keyboard. Then I typed valid email adress, because I knew there I'll receive activation link and a link for download later. Also entered code from the image.
4. Opened my email and confirmed the link that I received.
5. Wait about 30 seconds and saw another(second) mail that contains download link for the signed application.
6. Connect the phone via USB and transferred nAlertMe.sis in the memory card, then install it as I do with any other program.


Important: From the archive should choose .sis file that corresponds to your cell phone!
It was nAlertMe_beta4_Sensor_FW_nokia_3rd_fp2_and_5800_unsigned.sis for me
The package includes a few more versions for different phone models.

Facebook tricks and tips

Here I want to show you some Facebook tricks and tips. Don't think I need some opening words for this post... We all know how BIG is Facebook.

You just need to copy the chosen symbol and paste it there, where you want to show it. Symbols are okay for Skype too.

2. Hide in chat for certain users. Surely some of you want to "hide" from someone when they are in Facebook. You can do it this way:

Open chat, and top left click on Friends list. Then create a new list, write his name and confirm with Enter. You can use BlackList or something. After creating the list, it will appear in your chat. All you have to do now is to edit it by going over it with your mouse and add friends from which you want to hide.
Then I recommend close and open Facebook, to make changes. Now just use the button on the BlackList (or your name on the list) to go offline for selected users.

3. How to use Facebook chat on your desktop:

For this purpose you must obtain the appropriate software. Here are two programs that will do the job: Gabtastik and digsby.

4. One tip that can save you a lot of headaches: Hide your e-mail adress! Let be visible ONLY for you.

Could not update ICEauthority - error fix

A long time, going with this error that appears when the system starts(Ubuntu 10.10 at the moment).

What is ICEauthority? - It is a file that coordinates some basic security and function permissions. It can be damaged to a point where it is impossible to log on normally.

Why/How the problem/error occur? - A lot of places I've seen a software instructions, which include its launch as root or changing file's content, getting root privileges with this command(example):

sudo gedit

In the most cases this is not a problem, but that's why our error(Could not update ICEauthority) occur. In some applications starting with this command run them with root privileges, but uses config file of the current user, which we using our system.

How to avoid the error?? - Now I'll give you few examples, that will show you how to run / no run graphical applications with root privileges:

Wrong:

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Correct:

gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

And when it comes to editing files that require root privileges, you can always use:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Witout graphical interface, just with CLI(Command-line interface).

How to hide/fix the error, If you already are allowed to occur? - Open terminal and write the following:

sudo chown $user:$user /home/$user/.ICEauthority

sudo chmod 644 /home/$user/.ICEauthority

Where $user is your user which use with the system.
The next time the error should be gone. :)
